Assassins Stymie Stoners 38-28 in Southern Utah Championship #16

(St.George, Utah)Shawn's Assassins have performed well in ZFL tournaments the past few years, yet suffered some heartbreaking exits at tourney time. On Presidents Day however, the Assassins played a near flawless performance that highlighted a great ZFL tournament at Helen and Tony's Dixie Down home. A beautiful buffet and brutal dice rolls combined for a another excellent Zion Football League experience.
The Assassins and Tony's Stoners put on a great game in the final round. Tony's Stoners started out fast and strong, rolling out to a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter, before using a 52 TD Double Reverse to claim a 21-10 lead late in that same period. Shawn's Assassins struck back with a strong drive that produced a one yard TD Option Sweep to cut the Stoners lead to 21-17 at halftime. Early in the second half the Assassins used an exciting dice roll to create a 52 yard TD Punt Return to take the lead 24-21. Shawn's offense continued to roll in the second half, including a 14 play touchdown march, to finally stump the Stoners 38-28. Helen and Tony have hosted the Southern Utah Championship Tournament for the past eight years. Once again their artistic and friendly home welcomed ZFL players from across Utah with good food, great games, and friendly fun.
