CFL Zion Cup kicks off 2010 Zion Football League Season inside Zion National Park
Exciting armchair football action, Canadian style, will kick off at 11 am on Saturday, January 2nd at Mike's cabin in Oak Creek in Zion National Park. Mike will provide a warm spaghetti feast and other holiday treats. CFL fans are asked to bring additional holiday food and fun.
The addition of the Zion Cup to the ZFL yearly calender will allow the Southern Utah-based league to showcase two Canadian-rule armchair football tournaments in a calender year, winter and summer.
Mike's Stallions, who have won the last two Molson Cup tournaments, are heavy favorites to roll to the CFL Zion Cup I championship. Since Mike renamed his CFL armchair football team the Stallions in 2008, he has not lost a CFL tournament game (6-0), while winning back to back Molson Cup Crowns.
(St. George, Utah) Capping off one of the most successful years ever in Zion Football League history, Shawn Spendlove and his Assassins rolled over Tony's stunned Stoners 50-7 in the championship game of Holiday Bowl XVIII on December 13th. The Holiday Bowl Crown earned the Assassins their fourth ZFL championship in 2009. Assie coach Shawn has displayed a perfect mix of hot dice rolling, great play calling, and solid defense throughout 2009 and ran away from the rest of the league enroute to winning 21 ZFL tournament-games, the best in the 34 year history of the ZFL. The Assassins are only the third team in ZFL history to win four tournaments in a calender year.
