Zion Football League Mourns Loss of Good Friend Wrethel "Grandpa" Spendlove

(Hurricane, Utah)_The Zion Football League lost a good friend on March 14 when Wrethel "Grandpa" Spendlove passed away. Grandpa was always a fixture at ZFL tournaments played at Spendlove Place. He would attentively watch as armchair football action unfolded and was always interested in who was winning.

Grandpa often shared tales of his life in southern Utah and his work
inside Zion National Park. He was always proud of his love for his wife Lois and was honored that she was the only woman he ever loved.

The Zion Football League extends its love and respect to Grandpa's family and friends and will always remember his warm and friendly companionship at ZFL games.

Posse Defense Shines Bright in 42-28 Win over Assassins

(Virgin, Utah)_Exciting Zion Football League armchair football returned to scenic Virgin when Susie and Shawn hosted a compelling ZFL match-up between Mike's Posse and Shawn's Assassins on March 12th. The Posse defense led the way as they picked off numerous Assie passes and returned two of them for touchdowns, including a 88 yard interception return in the
second quarter, giving the Posse a 28-14 halftime lead.

In the second half the Posse rolled to a 35-21 lead, using a 49 yard Touchdown Inside Run to run up the score. Refusing to die the Assassins parlayed a 95 yard TD Kick Return to pull within 28-35 with 15 plays left in the game. Eschewing the Onside Kick Attempt, coach Shawn kicked off deep to the Posse who sharply moved downfield for a TD Pass, eating up most of the remaining plays and securing a hard fought 42-28 triumph.

The Zion Football league will announce shorty the details of the upcoming Zion Bowl XXVIII tournament which will held on Sunday April 22 at Brenda's beautiful Hurricane home. Please check back on this website for upcoming details.
