Assassins and Virgins invite the ZFL to beautiful Virgin for Labor Day fun and games!

(Virgin, Utah)_ Susie Brindley has been a ZFL fan for over a year. Watching and learning, she now takes the next step in armchair football craziness. Susie recently led her new ZFL expansion team - the Virgin Virgins - to a stunning win over Shawn's Assassins in the first game she ever played. Now Susie and Shawn will open their home and host the first ever East Virgin Invitational ZFL tournament on Sunday, September 7th. Shawn has promised to make his grand Jambalaya, with the rest of the league asked to bring their usual great favorites.

ZFL Notes_The East Virgin Invitational is the fourth ZFL tournament to be held in the Virgin area...Three other ZFL tourneys were held along North Creek, north of civilized Virgin, between 1998 and 2000...Susie's Virgins have posted a 2 win 1 loss record in her first three games...Mike's Stallions slipped past Shawn's Assassins 57-54 in CFL overtime at Stallion Stadium on August 23rd...

BREAKING NEWS_Susie's Virgins threw a 45 yard TD strike in overtime to stun Mike's Posse 45-38 in Virgin, Utah on September 1st. The Virgins and Posse exchanged TD passes through-out the shoot out that was part of the "Labour Day Classic" celebration held in Virgin in anticipation of the East Virgin Invitational which will be held next Sunday, September 7th. Shawn edged Barb's Ghostriders 45-42 in the opening game, as his Assassins kicked the game winning 21 yard field goal with four plays left in the game.

Posse Captures Chaotic Classic By Beating Barb's Ghostriders 48-14 in Southern Utah Classic Title Game

(St. George, Utah)_Located deep in Dixie, the JTP Dome was
the scene of one of the most exciting and best ZFL tournaments
in recent history. Held on a hot Sunday, August 3, 2008, the Southern Utah Classic II was won by Mike's Posse, who captured the fourteen-team tournament with a convincing 48-14 victory over Barb's Ghostriders in the championship game. The late summer heat took it's toll, as all the teams and fans of the ZFL were jamming, flashing and rollin' with da ZFL beat. A great time by all!
Southern Utah Classic Notes_Katie's Gutter Sluts scored a TD on a 27 yard option sweep in overtime to pop Jim's powerful Gold Miners 38-32...Tim's Heat trailed Tony's Stoners 31-24 at the end of the third quarter, before rallying in the final period to oust the stoned one 34-31 in quarter-final action...Helen's Mynx could only score a safety and a field goal in a 5-36 loss to the Heat...In the final four, Kathy's Madame K drove 68 yards and scored on a TD 14 yard Half-Back Pass with one play left to pull within 35-33 of the Posse...Madame K then made the two-point conversion to tie the game...Mike's Posse returned the ensuing kick-off for 100 yards and a touchdown in a 42-35 thrilling Posse victory...Barb's Ghostriders, who trailed 23-14 at the end of the third quarter, launched a 49 yard touchdown pass with seven plays left to stun John's Nighthawks 24-23 in opening round action...Justin's Kaibab Mountain Cows put on the best defensive performance of the tournament as they shut down Doug's mighty Parowan Rams 26-14 in the first round...In the quarter-finals, Kathy's Madame K tossed out defending Classic Champ Shawn's Assassins 31-24 on a late 3 yard TD inside run...Beau and Kathy celebrated their birthdays in the opening round, a 19-16 win for Madame K...Preston's Blue Devils led Mike's Posse 17-0 late in the first half of their opening round game...the Posse rallied to win 26-17...Barb's Ghostriders and Kathy's Madame K are the front runners for the 2008 ZFL Rookie of the year...
