***Breaking News*** Katie Spendlove's Gutter Sluts Bang Zion Bowl Tournament and Win Their First ZFL Crown!

(Zion National Park, Utah)_On the last play of the 25th Zion Bowl Tournament, Katie Spendlove's Gutter Sluts kicked a 26 yard field goal to win their first ever ZFL Crown. That kick lifted the Gutter Sluts to a exciting 46-43 win over Doug's Parown in the title tilt. Katie's win stunned the Zion Football League as she captured the prestigious 25th Zion Bowl, held on Sunday April 26th in Zion National Park, Utah.

25th Zion Bowl set to rock inside Zion National Park on Sunday April 26th!

(Zion National Park, Utah)_ The Zion Football League will celebrate twenty five years of armchair football in Southern Utah with the annual commencement of the league's first Southern Utah based tourney - the Zion Bowl. The twenty-fifth Zion Bowl will kick off Zion National Park's "Century of Sanctuary" centennial celebrations that will be held throughout 2009. This year's Zion Bowl will also mark Mike Large's 25th anniversary of arriving in Zion. Back on April 27, 1984, a bright eyed, and dice-rollin' boy, moved to Zion Lodge and began a 25 year career that has been blessed with great memories of Zion and the honor of having wonderful friends.

The 2009 Zion Bowl will be held at Mike's cabin in Zion National Park on Sunday, April 26th. Pre-game partyin' and activities begin at 10 am. Mike will provide a buffet of pizza, spanish rice, and other favorites. Please bring your usual great treats.

Justin's Kaibab Mountain Cows won last year's Zion Bowl, edging Mike's Posse 24-17 in a defensive slugfest...In 2007, Tim's Heat out-offensed Doug's Parowan 45-31 to capture Zion Bowl #23...Jim's Gold Miners won their first ever ZFL tournament in 2005 with a 44-19 dry-humping of Tony's Stoners in Zion Bowl #21...The following year, in 2006, the Gold Miners defended their Zion Bowl title with another championship game win against the Stoners, a much closer 35-32 Gold Miner win...Tony's Stoners have won three Zion Bowl championships, including two in a row during 2002-2003...The Posse have won four Zion Bowls in ZFL history, but none in five years ...The Posse's last Zion Bowl Crown came in a 17-0 win over Tim Andreen's Zion Redhawks in 2004's Zion Bowl #20 title game...The first Zion Bowl tourney was held in the basement of what is now the Zion Pizza Noodle in downtown Springdale (the old LDS chapel) in 1984...

Shawn's Assassins Find Nathan's Lost Boyz 45-22 in the Spring Blossom 3rd Place Game!

(Hurricane, Utah)_At the beginning of the year, Assassin Coach Shawn Spendlove proclaimed that 2009 was to be the "Year of the Assassin". So far he has backed up that claim, winning the Southern Utah XVI Crown in February, as well leading his Assies to their third straight final-four ZFL Tournament appearance in the Spring Blossom Bowl, where they were dispatched to the 3rd place game by the Preston's Blue Devils 28-21 in a semi-final loss.

The 3rd Place game was held on April 11th at Nathan and Sharon's Hurricane home. The Assassins rushed for four touchdowns, and ran back an interception 80 yards for a another TD to storm to a 45-7 lead early in the 4th quarter. Nathan's Lost Boyz fought to the end and scored two touchdowns and a safety for the final
45-22 score.

CFL Stallions Stun Thunder 35-31 in Overtime at Hurricane's Thunderdome!

(Hurricane, Utah)_Mike's CFL Stallions continued to hunt down members of the CFL All Stars, who crushed the big blue 45-15 in last January's Birthday Bowl. On April 11, the Stallions escaped with an exciting 35-31 overtime win over the Thunder at Doug's Thunderdome. The Stallions led 28-12 in the middle of the third period before the Thunder scored 16 straight points to force an overtime session. The Thunder struck quickly in overtime with a 10 yard field goal, forsaking a third down gamble at the cfl colt 10 yard line. On the next play, the Stallions threw a 35 yard TD strike to end the proceedings, and extend their winning streak to five games.

CFL All Star Coach Dougie paid a heavy price for the sins of his 2009 CFL All Stars as two of his punts were blocked by the special teams of the Stallions, including one returned 44 yards for a big blue touchdown and a 21-5 lead for the Stallions in the first quarter.

Spring Blossom Bowl I is a Blooming Success as Coach Mike Claims His 31st ZFL Crown!

(Hurricane, Utah) Mike's Posse and Preston's Blue Devils played a championship game for the ages to top off a most excellent ZFL tournament held at the posh home of Tim, Alyssa, Shawn and Katie on March 28th. The Blue Devils led by the score of 21-17 throughout the second half before the Posse put together a thirteen play march that cumulated with a exciting 5 yard double reverse touchdown and a 24-21 lead. After an exchange of possessions, the Posse defense hung on as the Blue Devils went down swinging. The win is Coach Mike's 31st Zion Football League Crown, second best in league history. A great time was had by all as great food, hot babes, flowing whisky, and scoring dice rolls, made the first ever Spring Blossom Bowl I is a blooming success.

ZFL Notes_The Posse have won four out of the last seven ZFL tourneys...Mynx Coach Helen Fitzgerald organized, collected, and delivered a cash gift for Tim, Alyssa, and Carter during pregame celebrations...Jim's Gold Miners did not score in the second half of their to tourney games (a 28-10 win over Steve's Nomads, and a 30-13 loss to Nathan's Lost Boyz)...In the opening round, Preston's Blue Devils rushed for four touchdowns in a 41-14 romp over the Mynx...Also in the first round, the Lost Boyz blasted out to a 24-6 halftime lead over Justin's Kaibab Mountain Cows, then survived a 17-0 Kaibab Mountain Cow third quarter blitz to win 38-23...Shawndoggle's only touchdown came on a 16 yard fake field goal pass in a 33-7 opening round loss to Tony's Stoners...The Blue Devils scored a touchdown and a safety in the last three plays of the game to oust the Stoners 23-20 in the quarter-finals...Shawn's Assassins are twelve wins and five losses in the last six ZFL tournaments, winning the Southern Utah Championship and making three straight final four appearances... 2009 ZFL tournaments debuts were made by Giovanni's Eagles, Nathan's Lost Boyz, Steve's Nomads, and Katie's Gutter Sluts...
