CFL Stallions Defend Molson Cup Crown, Clap the Thunder 38-31!

(Zion National Park,Utah)_Beneath the massive cliffs of Zion, Mike's Stallions claimed their second straight Molson Cup with a thrilling 38-31 win over Doug's Thunder in the championship game on Saturday, May 23rd. Not only was the victory over the Thunder the Stallions ninth straight win, it also helped avenge the 45-15 gelding that the Stallions experienced in last January's Birthday Bowl to Doug's CFL All Stars. That was the last time that the Stallions have lost a game.

A partyin' crowd gathered at Mike's cabin in Zion Park and enjoyed a great afternoon of good food, exciting high-scoring Canadian armchair football, and lots of celebrating, including Shawn Spendlove's birthday.

Molson Cup Notes
Doug's Thunder jumped out to a 17-0 lead over Mike's Stallions with seven plays left in the first half of the championship game...The Stallions then roared back in the second half with four touchdowns to capture the Cup...Birthday Boy Shawn's Assassins have now played in five CFL tournaments...Barb's Chippewa and Helen's Frogs both made their fourth CFL tournament appearance...Jim Cantrell put on a dice-rolling clinic in his Gold Miner's 48-7 opening round win over Barb's Chips...Also in the first round, Tony's Tweaks and Doug's Thunder played a classic CFL game that mirrored their historic 2007 Molson Cup match up...The Thunder rolled for four big TD returns as they edged the Toronto Tweakers 58-46...The score of the 2007 Thunder-Tweak Molson Cup VI was 57-46...Shawn's Assassins led John's Gulls 24-7 at halftime of their opening round game, then were stunned as the swooping Gulls blocked a punt and stormed to a 31-27 come from behind victory...The championship game of this year's Molson Cup tournament was played in the Thunderdome, perhaps the"sweetest ride" in ZFL Canadian football fields...
