Heat Captures Southern Utah Classic IV Championship at Cool Kolob Reservoir!

(Kolob Reservoir, Utah)With only nine plays left in the Southern Utah Classic IV Championship Game, Tony's Stoners were on verge of winning their 14th ZFL title after they burned Tim's Heat on a 81 yard TD Punt Return. That special teams adventure gave the Stoners a 21-20 lead, their first of the game. On the ensuing drive the powerful Heat offense drove deep inside Stoner country before kicking a 42 yard Field Goal and grabbing a 23-21 lead. The Kolob Crowd then held it's breath as the Stoners moved quickly downfield. Only when the surprisin' Stoners missed a 45 yard field goal attempt on the last play could the Heat Nation celebrate as Coach Tim Spendlove captured his fourth ZFL Championship.
Kolob Superstar Doug Spendlove and his junior ranger staff created a memorable setting for the SUC tourney. Beau & O, Shawn, and Preston all worked hard to provide excellent food, firewood, and other outdoor fun in creating a unique ZFL experience above 8,000 feet in elevation...

Southern Utah Classic Notes - Tony's Stoners scored two touchdowns on exciting punt returns in their titillating title game loss…In semi-final action, Beau's Cowboys led 26-16 midway through the third quarter before the mighty high defense of Stoners blocked two punts for touchdowns and grabbed a 48-33 victory…The ZFL's newest expansion team, Jeff's Mustangs, led the hot Heat 7-0 at halftime before getting burned 31-24 in the semi-finals…In another great ZFL tournament defensive battle, John's Nighthawks battled the Heat to a 0-0 halftime tie before falling 17-13 in the opener...

Southern Utah Classic IV Heads to the Top of Zion Park enroute to Kolob Reservoir!

(Kolob, Utah)_The Zion Football League is happy to announce that the fourth annual Southern Utah Classic will be held high on the Kolob Terrace on Sunday August 15, 2010. In a first for the Zion Football League, Hall of Famer Doug Spendlove will coordinate the first ZFL tournament to be held above 8,000 feet in elevation. The wild ZFL weekend will kick off on Saturday night with a country dutch oven cookout that will be led by Chef Doug's dutch oven roast and, for dessert, a peach cobbler treat. Master Chefs Beau and Shawn will provide fixings, veggies, and dutch oven potatoes to enhance the feast. All ZFL fans are asked to bring extra treats, sandwich fixin's, as well as eggs and other stuff for the sizzlin' Sunday morning pre-tournament brunch.
