Shawn's Assassins win first Canadian Championship at Zion Cup II inside frozen Zion National Park!

(Zion National Park, Utah)Although Shawn Spendlove is known throughout the Zion Football League as a brilliant coach, his teams have never won a CFL title. All that changed as the killer CFL Assies romped through the Zion Cup II tourney and captured the Canadian Football winter title inside frozen Zion National Park on January 2nd. The mighty Assies outscored Jim's high-scoring Gold Miners by the score of 48-34 in the quarters-finals and then were forced into double overtime by Tim's hot Hosers in the semi-finals, where a 12 yard field goal lifted Shawn into his second straight Zion Cup championship game. The CFL Assassins made the most of that title appearance as they forced nine turnovers by Doug's dice, enroute to a 43-8 clapping of the powerful Thunder.

Mike's spaghetti and meatballs were the toast of Zion, as were all the great treats and warm friendship that ZFL fans brought to frigid Oak Creek Canyon.
