Posse Busts ZFL All Stars 31-28 in Birthday Bowl XXX

The Zion Football League All Stars watch as Mike moves

his Posse into scoring range in Birthday Bowl XXX action.

(Zion National Park, Utah)_When All Star Tony Iverson called upon Jim Cantrell of the Gold Miners to pull a victory on the last play of Birthday Bowl XXX on Sunday January 28, 2007,

Jim did his best, heaving a 52 yard long pass. That pass came up short as Mike Large's Posse survived a furious ZFL All Star rally to win the January Classic 31-28. Jim's Gold Miners scored early in the game, to give the All Stars a quick 7-0 lead. Following a Posse 7 yard TD Pass, Mike's defense came up with a big play when it blocked an ZFL All Star punt by coach Tony Iverson and picked up the ball for a 26 yard Blocked Punt Return to lead 14-7 in the 2nd quarter. The Posse slowly began to pull away and led 31-14 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Shawn's Assassins scored on a 3 yard Option Sweep and then Preston brought down the house with an electrifying 87 yard "Short Pass" on 4th down to pull the ZFL All Stars to within 3 points. Mike's Posse then ran down the clock before surviving Jim's final heave.
