Blue Devils Claim Riffian Invitational Crown in Zion National Park!

(Zion National Park, Utah)_Preston Bowling's Blue Devils limped into Zion National Park, entering into Riffian Invitational #27 having lost their last 8 straight ZFL tournament games. Yet on October 23rd, the Blue Devils
dreamed the impossible dream and made Zion Football League history by winning their first ever Zion Football League championship.
The Blue Devils survived in the championship game against another up- coming ZFL shooting star, Barb's Ghostriders, who led 21-0 in the middle of the 3rd quarter. Preston led his team to 3 touchdowns including a recovered fumble in the Ghostrider endzone to tie the game 21-21 at the
end of regulation time. In the shootout overtime, Barbs Ghostriders kicked a 28 yard field to grab a quick 24-21 lead. The Blue Devils then moved the ball 35 yards in 4 plays, ending the game with a 10 yard double reverse.
The Blue Devils routed Tony's Stoners 62-28 in the quarterfinals before kicking a 45 yard field goal to slip past Mike's Posse 24-21 in the semis.
With 13 teams participating, Riffian Invitational #27 was the largest ZFL tournament held since 1989's Riffian Invitational #11 - a space of 18 years. All the ZFL Tournaments held in 2007 have been won by members of the Spendlove family!
