Stoners Harvest Hurricane Gold! Tony captures his 11th ZFL Crown!

(Hurricane, Utah)_Tony Iverson's Stoners climbed higher into the Zion Football League record book on November 23rd, winning his eleventh ZFL title by edging Tim's Hurricane Heat 41-32 in the Harvest Bowl championship game. In that game the Stoners smoked out to a 27-7 lead early in the third quarter. Coach Iverson continued to pour it on the Heat, leading 41-16 with 12 plays left in the championship game. The Heat then caught fire, rolling up two touchdowns, two successful two-point conversions, and an onside kick for the final score of 41-32.
The Spendlove family continues to amaze the league and it's fans with their high level of excellence in tournament fun, food, and friendship. The great Italian dishes provided by Doug and Kathy highlighted a tasty buffet that also showcased other treats brought in by ZFL fans.

Harvest Bowl Notes_The top four teams in the ZFL standings (Posse, Parowan, Kaibab Mt. Cows, and Gold Miners) all lost in the opening round of the Harvest Bowl...Giovanni's Eagles threw two 70 yard TD long passes (one on the last play of the game) to rally past Justin's Kaibab Mountain Cows 35-30 in the opening round...Tim's Heat and Preston's Blue Devils waged a classic ZFL battle in the quarter-finals that was decided by a Safety late in the game, resulting in a 26-21 win for the Heat...In another defensive slugfest, Helen's Mynx outscored Katie's Gutter Sluts 3-0 in the second half of her 21-7 quarter-final win...Beau's Cowboys went down swinging, throwing two long TD passes in the last three plays of their 35-18 loss to Shawn's Assassins...Giovanni's Eagles and Shawn's Assassins put on a offensive party in the quarter-finals with the Eagles soaring to a 55-49 victory...Preston's Blue Devils trailed John's Nighthawks 27-7 in the middle of the third quarter, then scored four straight touchdowns to to stun the Nighthawks 35-27...Steve's Nomads scored two touchdowns late in their opening round game, including a 85 yard TD strike, to pull within 14-17 of Katie's Gutter Sluts...The Sluts then answered with a 60 yard interception return and a one yard TD draw play to win 24-14... Gio's Eagles had a 93 yard TD kick-off return and a 99 yard TD punt return in a shocking 38-43 loss to Tony's resurgent Stoners...Holiday Bowl XVII will be held at Beau and O's on Sunday, December 14th...
