Parowan Rams Patriot Bowl IV!

(Hurricane, Utah)_The Patriot Bowl, held on Sunday July 6th, featured a ZFL championship game that featured two of the league's best teams. Defense was the rule as both Doug's Parowan Rams and Mike's Posse fought for every yard and dice roll, before the Posse took a 14-10 lead with a 10 yard TD short pass on the last play of the third quarter. The fourth quarter was all defense as both teams were unable to move the football. After a Posse interception with eleven plays left in the game, the P-Rams drove 65 yards and scored a 1 yard TD double reverse to steal a 17-14 championship win and soar to an amazing 8-1 record in 2008 ZFL
tournaments.

The Spendlove Family were again great hosts in what turned out to be the largest Patriot Bowl tournament ever - 12 teams...Grandpa Wreth Spendlove was presented a birthday card from the ZFL...It was announced that the Southern Utah Classic II tourney will be held at the JTP Dome in St. George, Utah on Sunday August 3rd...

Patriot Bowl Notes - Jim's Gold Miners and Barb's Ghostriders opened the Patriot Bowl tournament with a hard fought defensive slugfest that was decided by a Ghostrider 6 yard field goal, giving Barb a 13-12 win...Preston's Blue Devils kicked three field goals inside the twenty yard line to slip past the Ghostriders 24-20...A 66 yard touchdown long pass by Mike's Posse on the last play of the first half broke open a close game that the Posse won 65-41 over Justin's Kaibab Mountain Cows...Since appearing in the final of last August's Southern Utah Classic, Helen's Mynx have struggled to a 1 win and 6 loss record...The Mynx have lost four straight ZFL tournament games...The defense of Tim's Heat scored on a TD interception return and a TD fumble recovery late in their quarter-final game to blow past Shawn's Assassins 42-24...The Posse's 65-41 opening round win over Justin's Kaibab Mountain Cows was the highest combined scoring contest in the glorious history of the Patriot Bowl tournament...Tim's Heat had two TD kick-off returns in a tough 47-34 loss to the Parowan Rams in quarter-final action...John's Nighthawks and Tim's Heat have played against each other six times in ZFL tourneys in the
past year...The Heat has a 4-2 lead over the Nighthawks in those games...Although they trailed the Parowan Rams by the score of 14-0 in the first quarter, Tony's Stoners rallied and almost pulled off an upset in a 28-23 loss...
