Zion Bowl Returns to Hurricane on Sunday April 27th!

(Hurricane, Utah)_ Zion Football League action returns to Hurricane on Sunday April 27th as the Spendlove Family hosts Zion Bowl XXIV. The Zion Bowl is one of the oldest ZFL tournaments held in Southern Utah. This year's Zion Bowl begins at 10 am at Spendlove Place. The Spendlove Family will provide lots of great food, along with pot luck from our friends, and deserts and cookies brought by Mike. Tim Spendlove (right) won last year's Zion Bowl in Zion National Park, beating Doug's Parowan Rams 45-31 in the championship game. The Spendlove Family has graciously hosted the Zion Bowl in 2002, 2003, and 2006. Come on down to Spendlove Place and enjoy a ZFL springtime!

Zion Bowl Notes_Coach Mike Large has won four Zion Bowls, three with the Posse and one with the Riffians...Tony's Stoners have captured three Zion Bowl Crowns...Jim's Gold Miners stormed to back to back Zion Bowl Championships in 2005 and 2006...The first Zion Bowl took place in Springdale in what is now the basement of the Zion Pizza Noodle (the old Springdale Chapel)...That tournament was held on December 29, 1984 with Sue Large's Angels beating Randy Mount's Vikings 38-14 in the title tilt...Sue's Angels played in the first four Zion Bowl Championship Games, winning two...Next year's 25th Anniversary Zion Bowl celebration will coincide with Centennial celebrations planned for Zion National Park...

Look out for the Posse in the Zion Bowl. April 27th is the 24th anniversary of coach Mike Large arriving in Zion National Park. His Posse are 5-3 in 2008 and looking to take no prisoners!
