Shawn's Assassins Rally and Clip Mike's Posse 42-41 in Riffian Invitational XXX Championship!
(Zion National Park, Utah) Crafting one of the greatest championship comebacks in Zion Football League history, Shawn's amazing Assassins overcame a41-14 halftime deficit to rally past Mike's Posse 42-41 in the championship game of Riffian Invitational XXX held at Mike's cabin on October 23rd. The Assassins roll to glory highlighted a exciting day of armchair football that featured great food, good times, and some of the most exciting ZFL action in history. Mike's Riffian Invitational continues to provide an excellent stage for the ZFL's best teams as evidenced by the two overtime games that featured exciting shootout action. Jim's Gold Miners edged Doug's Parowan 41-34, in five overtimes, in what was the longest (and perhaps best) armchair football game ever played in the 34 year history of the Zion Football League. John's Nighthawks and Kathy's Madame K provided extra overtime thrills in their opening round as the Nighthawks slipped past Madame K 30-27 in a triple overtime treat. That thriller was only the 4th ZFL tourney game to go into three overtimes.
Riffian Invitational Notes -
Riffian Invitational XXX invited the top twelve 2010 ZFL teams to play…Only two of the league's top four 2010 teams (Nighthawks and Stoners) won in the opening round…Coach Mike played in his 10th Riffian Invitational Championship Game and owns a 5-5 record in Riffian title tilt history…Shawn's Assassins drove 58 yards in the last seven plays to set up a game-winning field goal in their 27-24 semi-final victory over Jim's Gold Miners…The Riffian Invitational has hosted six overtime shootout games in it's excellent 30 year history…

In regards to a recent query, Yes, the ZFL COWBOYS have lead the league since MARCH 2010. They appear to be on their way the best record in the 2010 ZFL season.
What the ZFL news release failed to mention was that the sellout crowd in Zion Canyon gave the Cowboys a standing ovation when they first came out on the field. They loves good defense in Zion and the Cowboys dominate in that 2010 stat. Too bad that the farm team in Dallas, Texas ain't doing as well...
